Safety: Having a cell phone with satellite connectivity provides a critical emergency lifeline when you are outside cellular range on the lake, allowing you to signal for help or share your coordinates.
First Aid: Look in the cabinet above the double ovens for first aid supplies.
Smoke Detectors: There are numerous smoke/carbon monoxide detectors linked together; if one goes into alarm they all go into alarm. Press the button on any detector to disable the alarms. The one in the kids’ room with bunk beds is easiest to reach. The cabin is well equipped with fire extinguishers and a fire blanket.
Coffee: Enjoy your morning with a fresh cup of coffee, we supply a Keurig that can brew a pot of coffee or a single cup of java; bring your favourite Keurig pods or ground coffee with filters. Please do not use generic pods.
Fillet Table: There is a foldable table in the boat house that you can use for filleting your fresh catch, please rinse well. Wishing you the best of success in your fishing adventures. There is a bucket for fish bits – please don’t toss them off the dock – the island to the south is a good place to feed eagles and you can see them from the dock.
Drinking Water: We supply at least two 5 gallons (18.9 L) of water with a dispenser, when loading the dispenser please check that the line isn’t crimped. Additional water may be supplied depending on the size of the party and duration of your stay.
Fire Wood: You will find firewood in the woodshed to build a campfire or to use the wood stove inside the cottage. You may wish to bring some fire starter sticks to aid in your fire starting. Paper to help you light your fire is near the wood stove. Only use the fire pit for outdoor fires. Keep your fire small to comply with local requirements and obey any local fire restrictions. No fires on windy days please. The island is small and has many pine needles that are highly flammable.
BBQ: A propane BBQ will be supplied along with a spare propane tank in case it runs out. The spare is in the spare BBQ near the green shed. You may need to use a lighter (found in a top drawer of the island counter) to start the BBQ. If using the BBQ a lot, keeping an eye on the grease tray is a good idea – we keep an eye on it too.
Kayaks: Feel free to use the kayaks, enjoy a paddle and always wear your life jacket. We do not supply life jackets as you will need one when boating to the island.
Patio Furniture: We cover the patio furniture on the back deck to keep it clean for your use. Please cover or put cushions away in a storage box when not in use or if rain is anticipated.
Glass Cooktop: Don’t use abrasive materials on the glass cook top. The right cleaning supplies are under the sink – don’t worry we will give it a good cleaning after your stay.
Sunroom Windows: The windows will slide up and down, you don’t need to press the white sliders as those are to remove the windows. When slid together correctly, the windows lock together and support each other to stay closed in storms.
Pets: We have some dogs beds and towels for use. Please avoid using white towels to dry pets. Please avoid using the rugs or mats on the floor as sleeping areas for the pets.
