Sioux Narrows
Take a day to enjoy Sioux Narrows, head out in the morning and stop for breakfast. You will see some restaurant options with dock access during your boat ride out to Red Pine Island. Take some time for gifts in Sioux Narrows, experience local art and crafts, have some ice cream, enjoy dinner and head back before sunset.
Kenora
A day trip to Kenora is about an hour car ride away. It is something you will certainly enjoy if time permits.
Those who are more adventurous can enjoy a boat ride to Kenora. Both Kenora and Sioux Narrows offer wonderful celebrations on July 1st (Canada Day) and the August long weekend (first Monday in August). Each has special celebrations and events on other weekends over the summer. Take some time and explore your options.
Lake Access Resort Dining
Various resorts on Lake of the Woods also offer dining to those travelling out on the lake. One of our favourites is a 50 km cruise (about 75 minutes at a 25mph cruise) to Willey Point Wilderness Lodge. This is a wonderful way to enjoy a day with calmer waters and sunny skies. It is a bit of a journey but crosses some amazing walleye areas where you can often easily catch your limit along the way (make sure you have lake maps and have good navigation skills).
Provincial Parks
You may enjoy a visit to Sioux Narrows Provincial Park, hiking the Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Trails, or a hike down the lower rapids trail at Rushing River Provincial Park (40 minute drive from Sioux Narrows).
Only a 10 minute boat ride south lies the beautiful Timber Island beach where you can enjoy an afternoon in the sun while cooling off in the waters of Whitefish Bay. Take a ride around Timber Island, see ancient pictographs of the first nations people, climb a cliff onto the island (if you can navigate a route up - kids with an adventure spirit will love the climb) and enjoy breath taking views.
